MAHENDRA SINGH – PROFILE

 

Shri Mahendra Singh was born on 14th August 1940 in village Amka, now in Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.  His early education was in Delhi.  After graduating from Delhi University, he did his Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management from Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University. He also completed a full time course on Management of Agricultural Cooperatives from Cooperative College, Loughborough UK.  Shri Mahendra Singh retired from the post of Managing Director of National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED). He also worked as Managing Director of National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India for about two years on deputation from NAFED.

Shri Mahendra Singh has written Personnel Manuals of some national level apex organisations such as Nafed, Trifed, NCCF, Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research (NCAOR) – GOA. In 2003, as Country Consultant of International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), he conducted a Critical Study of Agricultural Cooperatives and Informal Cooperative Farmers Movement in India. His name was  also mentioned in INFA Publications’ India’s Who’s Is Who Book for the year 1991-92. 

As a member of the ICA Committee on Consumers Cooperatives for Asia and Pacific, Shri Mahendra presented Country Paper on the present State of Consumers Cooperative Movement in India at Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) in May 1992. He was also part of the Indian Ministerial Delegation to the Third Asia-Pacific Cooperative Ministers Conference held in Colombo, Sri Lanka July 1994.

After retirement, Shri Mahendra Singh is associated with a number of social and senior citizens bodies. He is the Patron, founder President/ General Secretary of many such organisations. He is doing social work for the benefit of the society and is still associated with some of these organisations.

He has travelled extensively within India and abroad. He as visited United Kingdom, France, Italy, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Srilanka.

In 2018, Shri Mahendra Singh wrote this Book on Rawal Family of Amka to pay tribute to his parents, ancestors and other family members. This is the revised third edition of it. New section “Jewels of Rawal Family”, Haveli’s of Amka and annexure II and III have been added, which has given   a new appearance to the book.  It is hoped that readers will find it interesting.
